Austin Professional Organizer and Senior Move Manager Receives Philanthropy Award

January 27th 2013

At the 2013 NAPO-Los Angeles Organizing Awards held at the Sheraton Universal in Los Angeles on January 26, Austin professional organizer and senior move manager, Barry Izsak was honored with the Philanthropy Award. This prestigious award was voted by members of the National Association of Professional Organizers around the world in recognition of Izsak’s  countless hours of volunteer service as a relentless ambassador for NAPO and the professional organizing industry over the past 17 years; and most recently, for the creation of the Barry Izsak/Glorya Schklair Conference Scholarship Fund endowed through his generosity.

Izsak, who is a professional organizing expert and senior move manager in Austin, Texas chose to memorialize his long-time friend and industry colleague, Glorya Schklair, in the naming of the fund. Schklair was a professional organizer who carried the torch for industry certification for many years, and worked tirelessly to move NAPO and the organizing industry forward in many ways.

In accepting the award, Izsak remarked, “I had pondered for many years on how to create a way for professional organizers, who might not otherwise be able to afford to, attend and benefit from the NAPO conference experience as much as I have.  With the helpful guidance of NAPO’s staff, I was finally able to translate that dream into the Barry Izsak/Glorya Schklair Conference Scholarship Fund.”

Izsak also quoted the words of Sandra Yancey, founder of e-Women network … “Give without remembering, take without forgetting” and said that he has tried to embody these words and make them his hallmark and encouraged all those in attendance to do the same. “Whether it is your time or your money, we all have unique gifts that we can give and talents that we can share to grow our industry, keep the NAPO mission alive and help our newer colleagues realize their dreams–to live and work their passion just like we have.”
